Patrick Hernandez

Patrick Hernandez has spent his entire career in the investing and entrepreneurial spaces. Most recently, Patrick led the capital access vertical at Propeller, a New Orleans-based entrepreneurial support organization. In this role his duties included overseeing all aspects of the formation and deployment of the Propeller Impact Fund II, an SSBCI-backed seed equity fund including sourcing, screening, performing in-depth diligence, managing the fund’s Investment Committee, and ensuring SSBCI compliance through Louisiana Economic Development. Prior to the launch of the Propeller Impact Fund II, Patrick also played a similar deployment role in the organization for the Propeller Social Venture Fund, a debt fund.

At Propeller, Patrick also spearheaded various programmatic efforts coaching entrepreneurs on accessing debt and equity capital, formulating detailed growth plans, scaling through customer acquisition, overcoming various operational hurdles, and leveraging resources to achieve success. Patrick brought first-hand experience to this role after co-founding his own consumer packaged goods company which recently celebrated its ninth anniversary. Through this endeavor, he built upon his experience covering the consumer sector at Allianz Capital Partners to operationalize the start-up concept and expand the product’s footprint nationally.

At Allianz Capital Partners, a global private equity and venture capital investment firm managing approximately €6.5B, Patrick took an active role in investment sourcing, screening, due diligence, analysis, and monitoring across both new commitments and the organization’s legacy portfolio. His combined experience of managing investments in individual, privately-held companies, utilizing funds provided by others to make such investments, operating a business, and coaching entrepreneurs makes him highly qualified to assume a similar role at 1834 Ventures.

Patrick holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics with a concentration in Finance from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of OnPath Federal Credit Union, Bureau of Governmental Research, and Advocates for Arts-Based Education, the governing board for The Willow School, and previously served in various roles on the Young Leadership Council Board of Directors including 2023 President.
